How to Pitch a TV Sitcom
hey, you know what? i'm not Nino Culotta.
- but i did once meet John O'Grady.
and pitched him an ABC TV comedy.
he said no. i said `yes'. he said `no' again. i said `yes' again.
then he threw me out of his office at the ABC, but at least i had the last word. and what's more, the meeting ended on a positive note. (ie, me still saying `yes', over and over as he called security)
it was called CRAPOLA CABLE TV.
ah, those were the days.

The Deadly Number 10...
I was reading a statistic the other day, that `1 in 10 women smoke'.
Then I read another statistic that said `10 out of 10 people will die'.
So what is the common factor? Quite obviously, it's the Number 10.
Is it possible we are overlooking the obvious? Is it just me that realises the danger that the number 10 represents?
It is the number 10, not cigarettes, that we should be outlawing in public places.
Now excuse me while I go take a 9 min 59 second break, as I'm dying for a cigarette.

Nothing Is As It Seems
This, I think, is the one Universal Theme in Literature - and in Life. eg You'd think a Caesar was smart, but Augustus sent his troops into Germany in 9 BC and lost them all. What a schmuck. This is also why `American Beauty' is the 2nd-best movie ever made. Because all the major characters are the opposite of what they first appear. Also, clowns seem really happy, but I bet secretly, they're really crying on the inside.
